From July 2014, the Homeless Person Information Centre and Yconnect have been replaced by the NSW Government’s Link2Home program.

Link2Home is the statewide telephone service for homelessness enquiries in NSW. The service may be able to provide temporary accommodation to those in immediate need.

Link2Home is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From 9am to 10pm, Link2Home provides information, assessments and referrals to homelessness services. After these hours, referrals to emergency services take place if required.

Domestic Violence Line

This state wide service provides telephone counselling, information and referrals for those experiencing or who have experienced domestic violence.

Trained female caseworkers are sensitive to the needs of people who have experienced domestic violence. Domestic Violence Line staff are aware of the special needs of Aboriginal women and women from other cultures, as well as those living in rural and remote areas.

Interpreters and TTY can be arranged where necessary to ensure that all people, regardless of their language or disability can use the service.

This statewide phone service will automatically direct people seeking housing and homelessness assistance to their nearest entry point during business hours, and to an after-hours response outside of business hours (at night and on weekends).

The Women’s Domestic Violence Crisis Service of Victoria

This is a confidential service which provides information, support and access to safe accommodation or refuges for women and their children. This service can act quickly if your situation is urgent and can also help with transport.

This is a state wide service providing an accommodation information and referral service.

Domestic and Aboriginal Family Violence Gateway

This service provides counselling for victims of domestic violence and their concerned friends.  It also provides counselling for people who commit domestic violence.

Youth Gateway- Trace-A-Place

This is the central assessment and referral service for emergency and supported accommodation for people aged between 15 and 25 years of age


Homeless Advisory Service

The Homeless Advisory Service provides information to homeless people to assist them to seek their own accommodation.  Every effort is made by the Homeless Advisory Service to assist homeless people to link with crisis accommodation services.

The Advisory Service also takes calls from people who have shelter but do not have their own tenancy or lodgings.  In these cases the Homeless Advisory Service encourages clients to obtain bond assistance and to seek private rental accommodation.  Clients are given information about public and community rental housing through the Department of Housing and how they can apply for priority assistance.

The Crisis Care Line provides after hours support including temporary accommodation, protection for children, financial aid, counselling and support services.

The Homeless Advisory Service works in conjunction with the Crisis Care Line.

Afterhours Homeless Support Helpline

Provides immediate support and information and can arrange immediate emergency accommodation.


In the Northern Territory, there are 36 Service Providers (funded through the National Affordable Housing Agreement) that deliver 50 specialist homelessness services.

Many offer services such as counselling, advocacy, community education, information and referral assistance.

The accommodation provided ranges from short-term crisis accommodation for women and children escaping domestic and family violence, to long-term accommodation and support for homeless men or families in crisis.
